Welcome
I would like to introduce myself. I am Barbara J. (Parrish) Rodgers. My birthplace was Pinson, Chester County, Tennessee near the Pinson Indian Mounds. We lived in a house that belonged to Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Seaton. I do not remember them but my parents told me stories of living there. My mother brought me into the world in our home. Doctor Oscar McCllum was the attending doctor with my Aunt Louise Howell helping with the delivery on October 29, 1955. My two brothers and two sisters were sent to Mr. and Mrs. Seaton's house until I was born. I have been told my father paced outside. It was a difficult birth because my mother's heart valves were damaged due to Rheumatic Fever. We both lived through it and had many years to share.
We lived in Chester County until I was twelve. My parents and siblings all spoiled me. There are many stories that my children love to hear and I will slowly add those to my web site. To find the stories click on the Journal icon at the main page. After my siblings became adults my mother left my father and moved me to her hometown in Hickman County, Tennessee. This is where I had my children.
As a child I was very curious about my parents lives and ask for stories often. Each one intrigued me with their different stories. My fathers stories about his parents and siblings dying leaving only he and Uncle Clyde alive. Mom with her stories of growing up in Hickman County. In 1978 my curiosity led me to begin my journey in genealogy. My mothers parents were alive and I received a great gift of stories from them. This journey has led me on a great mystery ride winding through stories and meeting precious people. I have searched tons of material, written piles of snail mail before computers became possible, heard stories from different generations, found friends and relatives. I would like to thank all those researchers that have emailed, shared or just became my friend during these years. People like Thurman Parish, Euell Johnson in AK., Joan Bulach in GA., Alma Hicks Powell in ILL., Wilda Costello, Richard Parker and so many others that helped me out and became my friend. Last but not least my daughter's friend Bill Vandervort became a close friend to the family several years ago. He created some of the website pages with many hours, hard work and a kind heart. Thank you Bill. And my closest and dearest friend who built my first website and is taking the time to help me learn and build this site. Cliff I can never thank you enough for putting up with me. My search will continue and my hope is that my future generations will cherish the result and continue the research
when I can no longer search. I hope people enjoy my web site and maybe it will
help others as I have been helped along the way. |
